The Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF) is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1950 that supports vulnerable children and families, both in Taiwan and across overseas projects. Their work spans education, child protection, and family assistance programmes, with a mission to promote the wellbeing of children, youth and underprivileged families regardless of religion, ethnicity or gender.
The project we're supporting
For this campaign we're fundraising for TFCF's Art Therapy for Early Intervention Children project. It uses creative therapy to support young children with developmental challenges, giving them a way to express themselves and grow with the right support around them. Every donation helps TFCF continue this long-term, practical work for the children who need it most.
Why we chose TFCF
The Taiwan Pedal.3602026 is our first ever human-powered Rusty Rhinos adventure, cycling 1,004 km around the entire island of Taiwan in 12 days. Usually our events involve an old Land Rover and a lot of horsepower. This time we swapped engines for leg power, taking on the challenge in our usual Rusty Rhinos way as part of Taiwan pedal.360.
Along the way we wanted to raise funds for a local Taiwanese cause. TFCF is a non-profit charity that supports vulnerable children and families across Taiwan through education, protection and family assistance programmes. Local, meaningful, and close to our hearts for this trip.
Meeting TFCF in Taipei
On 20 March 2026, the day after completing the Taiwan Pedal.360, we had the privilege of visiting TFCF at their Taipei office. We were welcomed by Lee Wei Bo, Director of the Public Relations Division, and Lin Mon Ping, Head of the Social Resources Department, along with their teams, who shared the breadth of TFCF's work supporting vulnerable children and families in Taiwan and overseas. Hearing about their programmes in person, after riding 1,004 km in their name, made everything about this journey feel complete.
