2014 · THE LONG ROAD EAST · LONDON TO BEIJING
21 Jun – 17 Jul 2014
The Beijing Rally 2014
8,100 miles. 11 countries. One 50 year old car, driven from London to Beijing in 27 days. Where getting lost is half the point and strangers keep saving the day.
The Expedition
The Long Road East
Our fifth rally, and the most ambitious yet. 27 days, 8,100 miles, 11 countries, one 50 year old Land Rover, and a straight line from London to Beijing.
The Beijing Rally 2014 launched from London on the 21st of June 2014 and arrived in Beijing just 27 days later. In between: 8,100 miles across 11 countries, including the Caspian Sea crossing, the Pamir Highway, and the full sweep across China from the west to the east coast.
This was Red's biggest rally. A 50 year old Land Rover crossing half the world. We were supported by strangers who became friends at every border, and we learned that every country has its own version of 'yes of course we can help you fix that'. Red, bruised but unbroken, made it to Tiananmen Square.
